In loving tribute to Valérie Goutard (Known as Val, 1967 – 2016), this upcoming exhibition takes a fresh perspective on Val’s works, showcasing a never-before-seen collection of her career-defining works. Val was a highly lauded bronze sculptor, recognised for her evocative artworks ranging from iconic monolithic works of bronze to vulnerable and intricate sculptures made from bronze and Murano glass. Commemorating the 500 anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, this Talk & Film session will explore the life and achievements of the world’s most celebrated artist, discussing his most iconic paintings and exploring his other achievements. The Renaissance Genius died in 1519 leaving behind one of Europe's richest legacies in the many disciplines he mastered. A captivating documentary by Phil Grabsky will complement the session. Nude figures, as old as art itself, appear in the art of most cultures, but are particular present in the History of Western Art. This session will trace the portrayal of the nude body during the course of History from Classical times through the Renaissance and the Neoclassical to Modern Era. The session will provide an overview of the work of the Modern Masters while examining the main periods of their careers, concentrating on how they were influenced by other great artists of the past, and explaining how the major developments that defined Picasso’s and Matisse’s work have found a lasting place in Art History. United in their portrayal of strength and depth in nature, observe how the duo complement the exhibition’s theme with Cook’s contemporary glass works discovering nature from an aerial standpoint and Usher’s conceptual sculptural wall art using mixed mediums.
